AC Motor Control Advanced

Short description:  

Certain applications for 3-phase AC machines such as indirect control of mixer, require additional levels of control to obtain a desired outcome. This training module will cover issues relating to advanced control AC 3-phase machines in a targeted fashion.


Contents:    

  • Contactor circuit for controlling a 3-phase motor.
  • Wiring and function of self-holding circuit.
  • Problems associated with a reversing contactor circuit.
  • Layout of a 3-phase motor for star-delta start startup 230 V/400 V.
  • Wiring and function of a timer relay.
  • Set-up of a reversing contactor circuit with automatic star-delta start-up.
  • Speed control of AC-motors using a frequency convertor.


Competencies:    The participants...

  • is able to plan, design, setup and test a contactor for a 3-phase motor.
  • is able to plan, design, setup and test a lacing function.
  • understands the problems associated with a reversing contactor circuit.
  • is able to plan, design, setup and test star-delta startup with 230 V/400 V.
  • is able to plan, design, setup and test circuits with time relay.
  • is able to plan, design, setup and test a reversing contactor circuit.
  • understands the function of a frequency convertor.
  • is able to plan, design, setup and test AC-motor circuits with variable speeds.

 

Prerequisites:  

  • Completion of the module BAS-ELE-131 or basic know in AC-motors.
